01 · ABOUT THIS PROJECT

We delivered complete framing, exterior finish carpentry, and drywall boarding and finishing for this custom home in Lake of Bays. Working in collaboration with general contractor Simcoe Muskoka Building, our team handled the build from structural wall and roof truss framing through weather-tight exterior finishing and interior boarding. Scope of work included framing the entire structure, installing windows and doors, building the covered porch deck, hanging and finishing interior drywall across vaulted ceilings, and completing exterior vertical siding and trim.

We are subs who cross multiple scopes. We come from a versatile background in carpentry, coming together sharing knowledge learned from all corners of carpentry. As for our Merlo, we have only had it since July of last year, but already is making us more efficient. Moving materials quickly and doing our heavy lifting is helping with our small crew and longevity with our physical capabilities. We found this machine used, fairly far from home , and took a risk. Turns out it has hiding a brand new engine and hydraulics. She looks a little tired but she is fresh where it counts. It's also a roto tele, which has been something Id never considered before. The benefit of rotation of cab/boom allows precise movements without driving around on unpredictable ground. We are all relatively new operators and this was a breeze to learn. Because of the risk we took, our cost of ownership is not much more than the cost of a truck payment monthly. That made it very much justifiable for us. We are hoping it helps show our dedication to our current and future clients for offering safe professional services. We got very lucky and got a Merlo 16' actuating basket for it as well for a very low price. Helps keep everyone safe when access to tight spots isn't ideal. Sorry for the rant!

Looks well executed! How do you like the merlo? We used to have one but just couldn’t justify the monthly payments after a point. Our framing manager could never quite figure out how to be efficient enough with it. Beauty machine, I had fun playing around with it! Do you do full builds or pure sub across multiple scopes?
