These are site safety requirements, separate from any trade certificate, and they apply no matter which trade you’re in. Every worker in Ontario must complete basic occupational health and safety awareness training under the Occupational Health and Safety Act — your employer is responsible for making sure it happens as soon as practicable after you start.

If you’ll be using fall protection on a construction project, you also need Working at Heights training from a provider approved by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer; it’s valid for three years before a refresher is required. WHMIS training is required wherever hazardous products are in use. Employers usually arrange and pay for these, but holding them already makes you easier to hire and start immediately. Once you have them, add them to your Projekt Network profile so you clear the filters companies search on.
