Modern Lake Joseph Cottage & Boathouse Architecture

Designed by Corbin Patten Designs, Chown Cottage is a modern 2,800 sq ft custom waterfront retreat on Lake Joseph in Muskoka, Ontario. The comprehensive build unifies the main cottage, detached garage, and multi-level boathouse through a cohesive palette of dark siding, warm wood accents, and standing seam metal roofing. Floor-to-ceiling gable glass walls and dual lakeside doors capture expansive water views and create seamless indoor-outdoor living. Built with an efficient parallel-chord truss roof, the split-level layout features main-floor accessible living above a walkout basement with guest suites and recreation space.
