01 · ABOUT THIS PROJECT

We framed a custom timber and steel covered deck roof for this lakeside cottage on Balsam Lake, seamlessly tying into the existing rooflines. Built to carry through the home's Northern craftsman character, the new structure features exposed valleys and intricate rafter layouts visible from the finished space beneath. Tying into existing pitches and load paths required exact framing layout and execution, turning structural steel and wood framing into a defining architectural feature. The finished roof expansion creates protected, usable outdoor living space overlooking the water.
