Landscape Installations Manager 1. Position Overview You are accountable for delivering profitable, high-quality landscape installation projects from estimate through completion. You manage Foremen, crews, labour hours, project budgets, job profitability, subcontractors, client communication, quality control, and project completion. You are also responsible for upholding Creative Concepts Landscapes’ core values and ensuring every project reflects our standards for safety, craftsmanship, professionalism, reliability, ownership, and customer experience. 2. Success Profile and Targets You are successful when: * Projects are completed at or below estimated labour and project costs. * Project profitability meets or exceeds expectations established during estimating. * Labour hours are actively managed throughout each project. * Foremen lead their crews effectively. * Work meets Creative Concepts Landscapes’ quality standards. * Jobsites are safe, clean, organized, and professional. * Clients receive clear communication and satisfactory results. * Company values are consistently demonstrated. 3. Key Responsibilities Estimating and Project Budgets * Prepare accurate labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and production estimates. * Review plans, specifications, access, grading, drainage, materials, and site conditions. * Build budgets that protect profitability. * Identify risks, exclusions, and scope gaps before work begins. * Review sold projects before handoff to confirm scope, budget, schedule, and expectations. Labour and Profitability Management * Plan labour requirements and assign Foremen and crews appropriately. * Set daily and weekly production expectations. * Monitor actual hours against estimated hours. * Adjust crew size, sequencing, equipment, and work methods to protect profitability. * Approve longer workdays when reasonably required to complete work profitably, safely, and to company standards. * Ensure projects are completed at or below estimated costs whenever reasonably possible. Foreman and Crew Leadership * Directly manage and coach Landscape Installation Foremen. * Set expectations for productivity, quality, safety, communication, and professionalism. * Ensure Foremen provide clear daily direction to their crews. * Train and develop Foremen to manage jobsites independently. * Address performance concerns promptly and communicate significant issues to the Owner. Quality and Craftsmanship * Uphold Creative Concepts Landscapes’ quality standards on every project. * Inspect work throughout construction and at completion. * Confirm grading, drainage, base preparation, structures, paving, planting, and finishing meet requirements. * Require deficiencies to be corrected promptly. * Never allow budget pressure to justify unsafe work or unacceptable quality. Customer Experience * Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite throughout the project. * Ensure crew members are polite, respectful, and professional with clients and neighbours. * Set clear expectations for productive workdays and keep crews focused on project priorities. * Protect the client’s property, access points, landscaping, and surrounding areas. * Communicate project progress, schedule changes, site conditions, and concerns promptly. * Address client questions professionally and escalate unresolved concerns to the Owner. * Complete each project in a way that leaves the client confident in the work and proud of the finished space. Client and Subcontractor Communication * Act as the primary management contact for construction-related client concerns. * Provide clear updates regarding progress, schedule, changes, and site conditions. * Coordinate subcontractors and hold them accountable for quality, safety, schedule, and scope. * Communicate major changes, disputes, or risks to the Owner promptly. 4. Required Skills and Qualifications * Experience in landscape construction and project leadership. * Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, drainage, hardscape, planting, and site finishing. * Ability to read plans, specifications, drawings, and elevations. * Ability to estimate labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and timelines. * Strong understanding of production rates and labour-hour management. * Experience managing Foremen and field crews. * Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills. * Valid driver’s licence. * Ability to work outdoors and visit active jobsites.
