Mitchell ManufacturingWe fabricated and installed a custom motorized sliding aluminum hot tub cover that doubles as a flush, walk-on timber deck platform. We designed and welded this 12’ by 10’ custom aluminum frame with inlaid linear bearings to provide smooth, motorized hot tub access at the click of a button. When closed, the structure provides a solid, fully usable deck surface. You can also see the custom Corten steel retaining wall and stonework we integrated into the surrounding landscape.

The paneling was used for insulation to sit between the ribs and hide the mechanical components for the drivetrain, it was later finished with wood to match the upper deck, the gap was a nice drain and way to water the plants up front. I unfortunately haven’t been back to that project it was one of my last projects before I left that company.
Super cool @Mitchell Manufacturing what’s the story with the panels between the ribs? I assume the gaps are so there’s no standing water?
