House in the Hill: Modern Residence in Fonthill

Nestled in the Carolinian woodland of the Fonthill kame, this custom modern residence blends sculptural architecture with natural surroundings. Designed for a family of five, the reimagined home balances a curvilinear, wood-clad public north facade with orthogonal volumes extending south into the private forest. Inside, a central spine connects the spaces, featuring a double-height living room with skylights, sweeping curved millwork walls, a fluted stone kitchen island, and panoramic glazing that frames the mature treetop canopy.
