Dockside WeldingAfter design changes were made to the boathouse we were already working on, we had to act fast to keep the project on schedule. Originally, the boathouse called for an LVL ridge beam, which was then changed to a W18x87 steel I beam. Our barges were tied up on other sites, and this 3000+ lb beam was just a touch too heavy for our crane at the height it was to be installed at. We called in Archers ‘s Barging Service and KRS to assist. The steel was ordered right away, and we made the necessary provisions to the dock before we wrapped up that phase. Once the steel showed up to our yard, we prefabricated everything we could. On install day, as the barge floated the crane and large beam over, we had built the rest of it by hand. Because of that, the barge was only there for 45 minutes before it headed back to the landing. Really proud of our team for making this so seamless.
