Built by
Roman Mazzocca, PMPI led a mechanical upgrade project at a public school to improve heating performance, HVAC reliability, building controls, and overall comfort for students and staff. The project included upgrades to boilers, pumps, HVAC equipment, piping, valves, insulation, and BAS controls while maintaining safety and minimizing disruption in an active school environment. I managed the planning stage by working with school board representatives, facility staff, consultants, subcontractors, and controls specialists to define the scope, schedule, shutdown requirements, access restrictions, and project expectations. I developed the project plan, schedule, budget, procurement approach, risk register, and communication plan to keep the work organized and aligned with the approved scope. During construction, I managed the mechanical and controls work, including equipment removals, boiler and pump installation, piping modifications, HVAC upgrades, control wiring, BAS programming, start-up, and system integration. I also managed subcontractors, supplier deliveries, site issues, inspections, change impacts, and safety requirements to keep the project on track. I led closeout by verifying the completed work through inspections, testing, balancing, commissioning, and client walkthroughs. I managed final documentation, including as-builts, equipment manuals, controls verification records, warranty information, and deficiency closeout. The project improved heating reliability, HVAC performance, and building comfort while meeting the approved project requirements.
