Rieger ContractingRieger Contracting aquired two sand pits in 2012. Each year we have staff on site excavating, screening and loading trucks. Every winter we have one of our operators excavating, clearing new areas, and remediating what has already been excavated to keep the site tidy. The water table is just below the pit floor, so each bucket excavated essentially comes out already washed of silt and sediment. We have a range of round stone sizes, everything from boulders, to river rock, to pea stone. Our sand products consist of pit run, sand fill, tested septic sand, tested golf course sand and a bright white beach sand. There is a large quantity of topsoil on site as well that we enrich with compost and manure each year. This is an ongoing project, and has enough material to last generations.

As soon as the snow and frost is out of our stockpiles of unscreened material. We usually start late April or early May.
Impressive operation 🤘

When is screening season?

Once we’re into screening season, reach out if you’d like to stop in and check it out. Depending on what product we’re trying to make, we have up to 3 screeners and 4 stackers (conveyors) operating at once. This setup gets us 7 products at once from one bucket of material from the loader.

I’d love to see this in action!

Truly a behind the scenes look! Not sure I’ve ever been to an operating sand pit!
