Shop Foreman / Lead Millworker McDonald Custom Builders is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman / Lead Millworker to lead operations in our new woodworking shop located on Highway 118 just west of Port Carling in Muskoka. MCB is a well-established custom builder specializing in high-end cottages, boathouses, and accessory buildings throughout Muskoka. Our projects often require a high level of craftsmanship, and we are expanding our in-house capabilities to produce custom trim packages, doors, cabinetry, and timber components for our builds. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the shop, help organize production, and work alongside our team to deliver exceptional millwork. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and organize day-to-day operations of the woodworking shop Produce high-quality custom cabinetry, doors, architectural trim, and millwork Coordinate shop fabrication for MCB cottage and boathouse projects Maintain quality control and efficient production workflow Work with project managers and site teams to coordinate shop-built components Assist with shop setup, tooling, and long-term growth of the operation QUALIFICATIONS 10+ years experience in millwork, cabinetmaking, or custom woodworking Red Seal certification (Cabinetmaker or Carpenter) preferred Strong experience with custom millwork, cabinetry, trim packages, and architectural details Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and shop drawings Experience with shop equipment and production workflow Leadership mindset with the ability to organize work and guide others IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate may currently be working in a larger millwork shop in Central Ontario (Barrie, Vaughan, or surrounding areas) and looking for a lifestyle change or relocation to Muskoka. This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a woodworking operation within a respected custom building company. Future expansion of the shop may include additional equipment such as CNC machinery and expanded production capabilities. LOCATION Our shop is located on Highway 118 just west of Port Carling, serving projects across Muskoka including Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph, and Lake Rosseau.
