POSITION OVERVIEW The Residential Construction Carpenter is responsible for performing a range of carpentry tasks related to both residential construction and landscape projects. This role supports the successful delivery of custom homes and exterior environments by completing high-quality framing, finishing, and outdoor structure work. The Carpenter will work closely with site supervisors and project managers to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and in alignment with Easton Homes’ standards. A strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code, the ability to interpret construction drawings, and hands-on experience with both interior and exterior carpentry are essential. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Construction Duties • Perform back framing (including metal framing, fire blocking, niches, pocket doors, and packing). • Frame structures in accordance with the Ontario Building Code. • Install doors, temporary stairs, mouldings, hardware, siding, and exterior trim. • Conduct basic drywall installation/taping. • Read and interpret design and architectural drawings • Assemble and dismantle temporary structures (e.g., scaffolding, tree hoarding, fencing). Landscape Carpentry • Build and install landscape elements such as fences, cabanas, and outdoor kitchens. • Form concrete forms for various sizes of structures and brace accordingly. General Site Responsibilities • Maintain a clean and safe work site. • Operate hand and power tools (e.g., hammers, saws, drills, etc). • Follow all safety protocols and wear proper protective equipment. • Comply with Ontario Ministry of Labour OHSA regulations. • Follow directions from supervisors and project managers. • Uphold Easton Homes’ standards and site policies. KEY COMPETENCIES • Technical Skill: Demonstrated ability in framing, finishing, and structural carpentry. • Attention to Detail: Performs work accurately, thoroughly, and with pride. • Safety Awareness: Consistently follows safe work practices and site protocols. • Communication: Listens effectively and collaborates well with others. • Dependability: Reliable, punctual, and self-directed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS • Minimum 5 years of field experience working on high-end custom residential build. • Proven carpentry experience, ideally in both constructions and landscaping. • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code. • Ability to read and interpret drawings (including technical drawings). • Attention to detail and commitment to safety. • Dependable, punctual, and responsible. • Strong communication and listening skills. • Excellent organizational and time management abilities. • Able to work independently and as part of a team. • Valid Ontario Working at Heights and WHMIS required (or willing to obtain prior to start date) • Red Seal Certification is an asset.
