KHL Framing was brought on to complete what initially began as an addition and renovation to a 2,000 sq ft bungalow in Erin. However, due to significant structural deficiencies uncovered during demolition, the project evolved into a full rebuild—requiring immediate problem-solving, redesign coordination, and precise execution. Working closely with the project team, KHL Framing played a key role in refining the architectural approach, determining roof pitches and wall heights to create a cohesive and structurally sound design. Every wall throughout the home was custom framed to meet specific heights and angles, ensuring seamless integration with complex rooflines and exposed ceiling details. A defining feature of this build is the fully hand-cut roof system. Unlike engineered trusses, this approach requires a high level of craftsmanship and on-site precision, resulting in a warm, open interior with a distinct cottage feel. The exposed ceilings enhance the sense of space while showcasing the quality and accuracy of the framing work. The transformation from a compromised structure into a fully rebuilt home highlights our ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver under challenging conditions.
