KHL Framing completed the full structural framing of this 4,000 sq ft plus custom modern barn-style residence in Oakville, designed to combine architectural impact with advanced structural complexity. This project featured an engineered floor system and a hybrid roof design, seamlessly integrating conventional hand-cut roof framing with engineered roof trusses. Multiple wall plate heights, cathedral ceilings, and complex roof transitions required precise layout and execution to ensure proper load paths, alignment, and structural integrity throughout. The home includes a fully framed finished living space beneath the garage, adding another layer of structural demand and coordination. Inside, the build showcases numerous coffered and raised ceilings, each requiring detailed layout and execution to achieve a clean, high-end architectural finish. Large structural openings were a defining element of the project, including floor-to-ceiling windows and a 20-foot-wide patio door, all framed to exact specifications. A custom floating fireplace feature, fully integrated elevator shaft were also completed with careful attention to both structural and design requirements. A standout feature of the home is the 10’ x 8’ skylight, strategically positioned to flood the interior with natural light and highlight a custom mono stringer staircase below. The skylight was framed to align perfectly with the staircase, creating a striking visual centerpiece within the home.
