Had the opportunity to get my hands on some stain grade white oak to elevate this entrance into the primary bedroom. 3/4” White Oak veneer MDF as the backer, with a 1 1/2” frame rabbeted to leave a consistent 1/2” reveal throughout the interior portion. G-2 epoxy and just about a whole bottle of glue were my bestfriends here to keep the finish clean without a single visable fastener. Extra layer to this project was keeping a consistent 5/8ths projection from the drywall to allow for a tear away bead and mud to finish with 1/2” as spec’d.
