River Road BuildsWe designed and built custom dining room millwork featuring a traditional buffet framed by a full Mutulary Doric order. The hand-crafted Mutule cornice band wraps the entire dining room, tying the space together with classical architectural woodwork. Across the room, we converted an existing closet into a classically inspired, built-in china cabinet with custom divided-lite glass doors. Every element—from the hand-sticked mouldings, triglyphs, and guttae to the raised-panel drawers and scribed pilaster bases—was built using traditional joinery, jack mitering, and finish carpentry.

FANTASTIC execution and design. Love the classical details!!!

Thanks! Shop is pretty barebones, always built everything on site until last year when I signed my first lease for a shop space. Just under 500sqft, uninsulated and unheated tin box - fun times in these NH winters! Rely heavily on handwork for all custom stuff & joinery - often faster than ordering custom tooling or making jigs for short runs of parts. That said, In addiiton to my job site tools I also run a 5hp cabinetsaw and 5hp shaper with powerfeed. Have a dewalt planer I abuse a bit too... haha!

Well I’d say you nailed it! What’s your shop setup like? That may demand a separate project, ha! That’s a sweet looking bench you have. How much hand work vs machine?

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words, Ian. I started with design work - old school, ink on vellum. Built all of the cabinetry & much of the millwork - supplemented by Kuiken Brothers. Installed as well then followed by a finisher who did the spray finish. Put everything I had into this one. Solo job, bit off more than I could chew, and boy did I chew!

This is beautiful! Walk me through the scope of what you did here. you built, finished, and installed? Just incredible craftsmanship. Bravo
